Many brides today keep little memories in a binder or notebook when planning their wedding. But what you don’t often see them doing is writing little memories throughout the planning process. From the moment you say “I do” to the day you walk down that aisle, you should take notes of everything thing that you’re feeling and the ideas that keep looming in your head as you plan your special day. Maybe one day, your future daughter can have the honor of being able to read your journal and see how it was like for you to plan your wedding when it comes time to plan theirs.
The journey to the alter has many trials and frustrations, laughter and exhilaration, and lots of important decisions that need to be made down the road. When you keep a planner for your wedding, you jot down notes for everything you needed to do and the choices you made from invitations to linens and colors. But writing down your feelings will make it so much more meaningful. It’ll definitely be a treasure to keep for years to come and for generations to read years from now.
Write a letter to that future daughter or daughters of yours as you are planning your wedding and tell them how you will contribute to theirs and what your hopes will be when it comes time for them to plan their own wedding. Their is no right or wrong in keeping a wedding journal. It is whatever you want to write and decorate to your heart’s desire. Memories and keepsakes mean more to anyone than any expensive gift in the world. It’s a beautiful gift to yourself and to your future daughters to come!
A couple of months ago, I’ve had the pleasure to plan my cousin’s wedding. Now, you may be wondering how I was able to plan and coordinate a wedding and be able to enjoy my cousin’s special day. I am very lucky to have such wonderful assistants who helped me coordinate the wedding once the festivities have begun. The venue for the reception was the Willis Annenberg Building at the California Science Center. This building was located right next door to the Rose Garden where the ceremony was held. What made this wedding stand out to me was that this wedding was very different from the weddings that i am used to planning. Nowadays, many brides prefer the rustic feel for their wedding. Rustic weddings are one of my favorite themes to plan. But getting out of my bubble and planning a totally different theme was a challenge but it was so much fun to plan. The location offers traditional and contemporary beauty. Where else can you find a botanical garden on the second floor, a beautiful water fountain, and an amazing backdrop? This beauty was just jaw dropping and I definitely hope that I can plan more events in that space.
Irene and John’s wedding was just so magical. The venue was transformed into a beautiful and glamorous reception. With the high and low centerpieces and pink lighting and fluorescent pin spots throughout the room, it was a sight to see. This wedding was very different for the guests because in an Asian culture, oftentimes, the wedding consists of the tea ceremony, hours at the park taking photos with family and friends, and the reception at a traditional Chinese restaurant a couple of hours later. Irene and John wanted to do something different but include some of the traditions that Irene did not want her family to forget. We had the tea ceremony in the morning and we also had Lion Dancers at the start of the receptions. We also did a family style dinner consisting of specialty Chinese dishes. As soon as dinner was completed, the festivities began and guests enjoyed dancing the night away. This day was definitely one Irene and John will never forget.

Brides who don’t have coordinators tend to stress out when vendors and guests start coming to them asking them questions about the wedding. Coordinators will be your go to person when anyone has a question. That way the happy couple stays happy throughout the day and into the night.
I recommend couples to hire a wedding planner because when you work with a professional throughout the whole process, the planner will understand your needs and they’ll feel like your friends rather than another vendor. But if a planner isn’t in your budget or you’ve always wanted to play a part in every aspect of your wedding, then a coordinator would be something you should invest in. At least have a professional run your wedding to ensure it goes smoothly and worry-free!

Who said that rain on your wedding had to be a bad thing? If your wedding day ends up having some unexpected rainfall, why not take advantage of it with your photographer. Overcast skies give off some of the best lighting. Get creative with the lighting and rainy window panes. I just love how raindrops look on window panes. Heck, I just love rain in general. I’m a dancing in the rain kind of gal. Rain can give off such a unique artistic feel to your photos. Being outdoors during the overcast can allow for some pretty romantic photo ops.
If it’s still raining at the end of the night and you aren’t worried about getting your dress ruined, run into the rain and share a dance with your wedding party. No umbrella required. You get great photos and an awesome way to end the night. Just make sure you’re wearing your favorite waterproof mascara! Embrace the Rain!
Sparklers have become quite a popular trend in weddings. I love how they look in photos. They make for a beautiful exit or entrance. Guests typically line up in two lines to create a tunnel for the bride and groom to pass through. Sparklers can also be given out as party favors or used on cakes. They can also be used to create a sparkling light show for your guests to enjoy. There are so many different ideas you can do with sparklers. I feel that the main concern with sparklers is how to use them properly and knowing what kind of sparklers to look for. If you follow these easy steps, you can use sparklers for any part of your wedding and feel safe about it.
The best and safest kinds of sparklers The best kind of sparklers to get are the ones made from wire that is dipped multiple times in a thick mixture of pyrotechnic composition. The composition should dry smoothly and there should be no rust on the wire. Rust makes it difficult to use and it could be dangerous. The wire sparklers are also the safest to use. There are also bamboo sparklers being manufactured. These don’t burn for long and the charred pieces will break off and cause a mess to the ground. If used indoors, bamboo sparklers are a definite no-no. Using wire sparklers are okay to do because they emit less smoke. Wire sparklers are the safest ad last longer.
How to light sparklers Matches are not the best to light up sparklers. They are not get hot enough before the the flame gets to the bottom of the match and if they do light up, you risk burning yourself. Cigarette lighters are also not recommended because they can burn your hands as well. Barbecue lighters or propane torches are the best to light sparklers because the flame is away from the hand holding the lighter. Another way of lighting a sparkler is lighting it with another sparkler. Have a designated lighter on each row of lines. Line everyone up with a sparkler in hand and light each sparkler as you go down the line. This is probably the quickest way to do it and most efficient because the sparklers will light up almost instantly. Do not light multiple sparklers at a time. This is unsafe and can catch everyone by surprise. Sparklers light up with an instant burst of sparks. The best way to hold the sparkler is either horizontally or tilted down towards the ground while holding the tip of the metal wire.
Holding the sparklers Children must always be supervised by an adult. You want to make sure they don’t do anything unsafe or foolish with the sparklers. Also, keep sparklers away from anything that is flammable. Hold the sparklers at arms length, away from the face and body. When disposing the sparklers, have a bucket filled with water or sand available. Make sure no one touches the burnt part of the wire because it will still be hot. Once the sparklers are cooled down, they can be disposed. Sparklers can be fun and make for beautiful photos. Just follow these easy steps to stay safe and it will be a success!!
Beautiful greenery and florals can help to enhance your venue. They can also turn a mediocre place into an recognizably magnificent place. I love flowers and how they just brighten up a room with their presence. My most recent obsession is big bloomed flowers. Instead of bouquets and centerpieces that are put together with just small flowers, try arranging big bloomed florals with smaller accent flowers to put everything together. You don’t even need to pick one kind of big bloomed flower. Pick a couple that go with your wedding colors. Dahlias, Zinnias, and Marigolds are in season during the Fall and they’ll look great together. You know what they say, “Go big or go home.”
When I say this, I mean utilize what Autumn has inspired. Be one with nature! Incorporate the season’s natural beauty into your wedding.
Fall is an increasingly popular time to have a wedding. It is not too hot or cold. Consider using twigs, apples, leaves, and cranberries into your decorations. You can incorporate these things into your bouquet and centerpieces as well.
Finding items within nature or edibles that are in season during the fall, will definitely help you save money. Fall is so beautiful inside and out. From the beautiful colors that the falling leaves bring to the ground to the vibrant flowers and fruits that grow during this magnificent season, I just can’t get enough of this season! Now if only the heatwave can leave California so that we can actually enjoy what Fall has to offer. =)
For the month of October, I wanted to do a Fall Wedding Series. What better way to start this series off than with Fall Colors!!
Choosing the colors for your wedding can definitely be challenging. If you’re like me, you’ll be changing your colors as quickly as the seasons come and go. Fall is finally at our doorsteps and I just love the rich colors that are inspired by this season. I just love seeing the leaves change from green to hues of orange. Now if only Los Angeles had leaves changing colors everywhere. Here are some of my favorite colors for the Fall that would make great wedding color themes!
Weddings can get pretty expensive. If you’re trying to save some money, consider having your wedding during the off season months. During that time, businesses are hungry for clients and you can definitely negotiate to lower your prices and save for that honeymoon you always dreamed of. If you are inviting out of town guests, they’ll be saving money too. Hotels and airfare are also cheapest during the off season time. You’re guests will have happy wallets too!
The off season months vary from region to region. But I have been noticing that in Los Angeles, the off season months are from November to March of the next year. April to October are the busy months. If you do choose to go with the months between November and March, make sure that you plan your venue accordingly. You wouldn’t want an outdoor wedding during the cold winter days. Think rationally. Something’s gotta give if you want to save some money. Also, keep in mind that holidays will most likely be peak season pricing. So make sure to avoid those dates as well. Happy Planning!
Back when I was little, the only dessert I had at weddings was just the cake. It would have been nice to have a variety of little samples to choose from. In today’s society, dessert has gone on a whole new level. Weddings now have dessert bars to satisfy that sweet tooth. There are endless ways to design your own dessert bar to match the theme of your wedding or event. Whether it’s cake pops, chocolates, fruits, cupcakes, lollipops, macaroons, the list goes on!
There are many reasons why people have dessert bars at their weddings. One being having a budget and another being that there is more variety in a dessert bar. Couples can also decide to have a smaller cake to cut and fill a table with delicious desserts for their guests to choose. Dessert bars can even double up as party favors instead of buying little trinkets that guests rarely take home. You can put out containers and goodie bags out for guests to fill up and take home.
